soybean is a calm place to keep track of your skin — and to share notes with friends along the way. These guidelines keep it that way. They apply to everything you share with others in soybean, including notes, photos, product reviews, comments, and your profile.
Be kind
Everyone's skin is different, and everyone is somewhere different on their journey. Treat people the way you'd want to be treated on a bad skin day.
- No harassment, bullying, threats, or hate — including toward someone's race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age
- No body shaming or mocking anyone's skin, face, or appearance
- Disagree about products or routines respectfully — critique the product, not the person
Share your own experience
The best notes are honest ones about what you tried and how it went for you.
- Talk about what worked (or didn't) for your skin — not what will definitely work for someone else
- Don't diagnose other people's skin conditions or tell them to stop a treatment their doctor prescribed
- soybean is not a substitute for medical advice. For anything that worries you, see a dermatologist or healthcare professional
Keep it safe
- Don't promote practices that can cause real harm — for example, applying undiluted essential oils or bleach, using prescription-strength products without a prescription, or DIY treatments meant for a clinic
- Don't share content that encourages self-harm or disordered eating
- If someone seems to be in crisis, contact your local emergency services and let us know
Photos
- Only share photos of yourself, or photos you have the right to share
- Don't post photos of other people without their permission
- No nudity or sexual content — close-ups of skin are welcome, but keep it to skincare
Be honest about products
- If you were paid, sponsored, gifted a product, or earn a commission from it, say so clearly in your note
- No fake reviews — don't post about products you haven't used, or leave reviews for a brand you work for without saying so
- No spam, repetitive promotion, or selling products and services in the app
Respect privacy
- Don't share anyone else's personal information — names, contact details, locations, or private messages — without their permission
- What friends share with you stays in soybean. Don't screenshot and repost someone's notes or photos elsewhere without asking
- Don't impersonate another person or brand
Tagging and sending products
Tagging a friend in a note and sending a friend a product are for sharing something that's genuinely for them.
- Only tag friends in notes that are about them or meant for them — don't tag people to get attention for a post
- Don't tag someone in a post that embarrasses them, mocks their skin or appearance, or shares their photo without permission
- If a friend asks you to remove their tag, delete their @handle from the note
- Product sends are recommendations between friends, not advertising — don't send products in bulk or to promote a brand, and say so in your note if you were paid, sponsored, or gifted the product
- Don't want to hear from someone? Blocking them hides their posts — including any they tagged you in — and no one can tag or send products across a block
Breaking the guidelines
soybean has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, you can report the post or block the person right from the feed in the app. Blocking removes their posts from your feed right away, and stops them from tagging you or sending you products. You can also email us at info@soybeanapp.com. We review every report within 24 hours.
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, limit what an account can share, or suspend or delete the account, as described in our Terms of Service. We'll use judgment — these guidelines describe the spirit of the community, not every possible case.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines as soybean and its community grow. We will notify you of material changes via the app.
